Chester looking for ever-present stars
To celebrate a decade of top events, organisers of the MBNA Chester Marathon are offering a free place to anyone who has competed at the previous nine events. What’s more, the ever-present stars will also be in line for some pre and post-race hospitality on Sunday 6 October.
Consistently voted one of the top road races in the UK, the MBNA Chester Marathon is an autumn favourite for distance enthusiasts. The route features many Chester landmarks including the Cathedral, Roman Walls, the Rows and Eastgate Clock before heading into the stunning countryside around North Wales and Chester.
In addition to the 26.2 mile event, race day also includes an extremely popular Metric Marathon and Chester Mini-Marathon. Both the marathon and metric marathon (16.3 miles) are held on a fast, flat course on closed roads and there is a team of pacers ready to help runners achieve their target times.
The upcoming event will also incorporate the first ever All England Marathon Club Team Championships. This is a new mixed team format event for affiliated clubs, with three categories depending on the size of the club. All members racing are part of the team, and points are calculating using a cross-country style scoring system.
If you have been part of the Chester Marathon since its launch in 2010, get in touch with organisers to celebrate your achievement and take advantage of the free place (refunds available if you have already entered).
