Brown Clee Beauty!
Test your legs at this stunning multi-terrain offering...
What's even better than a 10K multi-terrain race? An 11K multi terrain race of course, who doesn't want one extra kilometre to test the legs? The Brown Clee Burn offers this unique distance and comes with an early autumn date of 1 September.
The event is a tough 11K(ish) multi-terrain race in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with runners treated to some beautiful scenery and the highest hill in the county – Brown Clee which stands at 540 metres (1,770ft). This is where ‘go for the burn’ takes on a whole new meaning as legs and lungs are given a good workout on some technical ascents.
There are stunning views across five counties from the top of the hill. However, what goes up must come down as runners get the chance to catch their breath on the long descents, helped on their way by friendly, supportive marshals. Two water stations on the course keep hydration levels topped up plus more water along with tea and coffee at the finish. Not forgetting the locally famous sausage or bacon bap to replenish lost calories.
The race starts and finishes at Stoke St Milborough village hall near Ludlow. Monies raised from the event will be split between local charities and the Midlands Air Ambulance.
2023 was the 10th anniversary race and saw nearly 100 runners take part. Bruce Fanshawe of Aldridge RC won the race in 44:25 while first female was Melanie Newbrook in 01:04:03.
