Time To Break The Law?
New endurance challenge coming to East Lothian this autumn...
Runners are being invited to honour the legacy of the Scottish Commandos while taking on a demanding new endurance challenge in East Lothian at the Breaking The Laws 30K which is set to take place later this year on 13 September.
Organised by Edinburgh-based Blast Running, the event combines history, scenery and serious elevation, offering participants the choice of tackling the full 30K route solo or as part of a three person relay team. There is also a more relaxed option for those who prefer to take things at walking pace, with a scenic 10K circular walk around North Berwick and Balgone.
The route starts and finishes in North Berwick and features a mix of road, trail and hill terrain, with a total ascent of around 640 metres. The opening leg sends runners straight up North Berwick Law before joining the John Muir Way towards East Linton. The second section heads from East Linton up Traprain Law via the River Tyne, returning to the village before the final leg makes its way back to North Berwick on a flatter stretch that is ideal for relay teams with mixed abilities.
All participants receive a medal and event T shirt, with the option to add a donation when entering. Blast Running has also pledged to donate £5 per runner or team to Scottish Veterans Residences. The charity provides supported housing for former members of the UK Armed Forces who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, with services in Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow.
