Get Kids Running!
Here's a novel idea to keep the kids entertained and active this summer...
All those with school aged kids will know very well that it is peak holiday time now. Some might say the novelty has begun to wear off, others may feel a little less negative! Whatever your feelings though we can all agree that the best way to maintain a happy household is to keep the kids entertained, well-exercised and fed. Helping with two of those criteria are Big Bear Events with their On Demand events.
A spokesperson told us: "Get the kids to do an On-Demand Big Bear event! Simply sign up to the event, go to the venue and do a lap with the kids using the Skamper app. If the younger kids need a bit of 'assistance' they can bike or scoot it - that's fine - it's just good to get them outside. We're sure that the prospect of a big shiny medal at the end will provide a burst of energy."
All of the venues are in amazing forest parks, so the settings are great and you can choose to spend the rest of the day there too. You could even bring some snacks for the end of the lap so they've got a mini-Bear aid station set up - or go to the cafe for an ice cream. Locations include Ampthill Park, Beacon Hill County Park, Cannock Chase Forest, Coombe Abbey Park, Daventry Country Park, Hartshill Hayes Country Park and Ryton Pools.
Skamper is a great, simple, app that allows you to follow the Big Bear course using your phone. As there will be no signage out on the route on non-event days the app will lead the way. Organisers will send out the medal you select when you order it and the hope is it’ll be there waiting for you at the end - much like an in-person event.
