PAU Newcastle 10K

Two Shots At Glory

Fancy taking on a 'race within a race' at this Staffordshire 10K event?

Newcastle (Staffs) AC will be hosting the Newcastle 10K road race on Sunday 8 September and are returning for 2024 with PAU as their new main sponsors. This popular road race forms part of the North Staffs Road Runners League and is one of the longest running races in the North Staffordshire area.

Starting outside Newcastle College, the race winds its way up the tough but rewarding Black Bank before descending into Silverdale. The route then goes along the old railway line for a fast run into the finish.

This is in fact only the ninth time the race has been run as a 10K, its predecessor the Newcastle 7 took place for over 40 years. The fixture will also be hosting the Staffordshire Intercounties race as well as it being part of Newcastle Staffs AC's 60th anniversary birthday celebrations. Organisers say: "Let's make this NSRRA race another sell out! Spot prizes on the day also relating to the 60 year celebrations."

Not only will the race be stacked with prizes but there is also a cash prize on offer for the first male and female athlete to reach the top of Black Bank, half way through the race. Organisers ask: "Can you conquer Black Bank and take home some cash and the bragging rights?"

This is a race within a race. You don't have to win the full race, just be the first to the top of the bank and finish the full 10K (you could walk the final three miles after being the first to the top; it doesn't matter). No special entry is needed. Just sign up for the race.
