7 Reservoirs Half Marathon

7 Reservoirs Returns

Tough Pentland Hills half returns this winter...

Harmeny Pentland Runners will once again host the 7 Reservoirs Half Marathon on 7 December, a unique multi-terrain race that promises mud, challenge and spectacular scenery in the Pentland Hills.

The Pentland Hills Regional Park provides a dramatic backdrop for the event, stretching from the Edinburgh city bypass down to Carlops and encompassing a mix of public and private land. The event takes runners on an anticlockwise loop around seven reservoirs within the Park.

The demanding route begins at Threipmuir before climbing Exponential Hill, passing through Green Cleugh to Loganlea, descending to Glencorse then heading up Phantom’s Cleugh to Bonaly reservoir. From there, the course drops down to Torduff Dam, continues to Clubbiedean and finally follows the north bank of Harlaw back to Threipmuir.

Organisers warn: "You may face fog, rain, snow or ice and can expect to get wet and muddy, though heatstroke is unlikely in December in the Pentlands!"

With only 140 places available, entries are on a first-come, first-served basis and a short waiting list will be in place once capacity is reached. Every finisher will receive a medal and goody bag, with trophies awarded to the top three male and female runners.
