Jamie Crowe delivered a blistering performance to win the 2026 Scottish Half Marathon on Sunday 16 August, breaking 65 minutes as runners raced from Meadowmill through East Lothian to the finish at Musselburgh Racecourse.

Crowe crossed the line in 1:04:19, putting clear daylight between himself and runner-up Sean Chalmers, who finished in 1:06:00. Robert Hudson completed the men's top three in 1:07:35.

It was another impressive result for Crowe in what has already been a strong year over the distance. The Central Athletics Club runner won the Mull Half Marathon earlier this month in 1:05:58, while his performance at Musselburgh took him well inside the 1:05:19 he recorded when winning the Scottish Half Marathon Championship at Inverness in 2025.

Rachel Laurie was the outstanding performer in the women's race, finishing 42nd overall and taking victory in a chip time of 1:16:19.

The Chichester Runners & AC athlete established a substantial advantage over Grace Tindall of Central Athletics Club, who was second in 1:19:04. Mara Galvani completed the women's top three in 1:19:40.

Behind the leading runners, the Scottish Half Marathon once again provided thousands of club runners, charity fundraisers and recreational athletes with an opportunity to test themselves on one of Scotland's fastest Half Marathon courses.

Starting at Meadowmill Sports Centre, the predominantly flat route takes runners through East Lothian and along the Golf Coast before heading towards Musselburgh. Its signature moment comes at the end, with competitors entering historic Musselburgh Racecourse for the final furlong to the finish.

The combination of a flat profile and fast racing has helped establish the event as a popular target for runners chasing personal bests, while Sunday's leading performances demonstrated just how quick the course can be.

For Crowe, a 64-minute Half Marathon provided an emphatic victory. For Laurie, a winning margin approaching three minutes made the women's race equally decisive.

And behind them came the familiar sight that makes the Scottish Half Marathon much more than a contest for the podium, as runners continued streaming down the finishing straight at Musselburgh Racecourse to complete their own 13.1-mile challenges.
