A major new Half Marathon is coming to the heart of Scotland, with the inaugural Stirling Half Marathon set for Sunday 16 May 2027 and ambitions to attract between 5,000 and 7,000 runners in its first year.

The new event will be delivered by Up and Running Events in partnership with London Marathon Events, the organisation behind the TCS London Marathon. The partnership brings together mass participation expertise from one of the world's biggest running events with the Scottish knowledge and experience of Up and Running Events.

The ambition is significant from the outset. Organisers intend to establish Stirling Half Marathon as a major annual fixture on the Scottish running calendar, bringing thousands of runners and supporters to a city already synonymous with some of Scotland's most important history.

Full details of the 13.1-mile course have yet to be announced, but organisers say the Half Marathon will take runners through one of Scotland's most historic and iconic settings.

The expected field of 5,000 to 7,000 runners would immediately give the new race considerable scale for an inaugural event. It also adds another major date to Scotland's 2027 road running calendar and gives runners a new spring Half Marathon target.

Entries are not yet open, with prospective participants currently able to register their interest to receive notification when places become available. Further race details are expected as preparations for the first edition progress.

For now, the date is the important one to circle. On 16 May 2027, a new chapter in Stirling's running story is set to begin.
