Windsor Half Marathon start 2019

Windsor Half Marathon - back, bigger and better

Can there be any more spectacular setting for a Half Marathon than stunning Windsor Great Park?

It has been almost two years since Windsor Half Marathon last took place in the majestic setting of Windsor Great Park, starting and finishing in the shadow of Windsor Castle. The coronavirus pandemic put paid to the 2020 race and the 38th iteration of this early autumn classic will now run on Sunday 26 September at 10:00am.

The reigning 'King' and 'Queen' of Windsor Half Marathon from the 37th race in 2019 are Daniel Studley (1:07:47) and Charlotte Taylor-Green (1:16:52) - both of Bristol & West AC - as 3,860 finished in 3:28:58. The Windsor course is described as 'undulating' but that frequently used euphemism for hilly and tough did not stop the top 10 finishing inside 1:17:00, or 100 athletes beating 1:30:00.

Windsor Half Marathon is part two of the Windsor Running Festival weekend, following the Windsor Women's 10K the previous day. Indeed, the defending women's champion ran both events in 2019 - winning both, too!

Saucony returns as the key sponsor this year and associated charities include Cancer Research UK, Thames Hospice, Battersea, and the Founding Charity the Prince Phillip Trust Fund.

All entrants enjoy a free, secure baggage drop; 'posh' toilets on-site and on course; six drink stations; traffic-free course; full medical support and some of the most experienced and enthusiastic marshals around.

The supporting Glyn Shefford Memorial Run - held in tribute to the local Scout Leader from Old Windsor who played a huge part in organising the first Windsor Half Marathon in 1981 - awards trophies in three young athlete categories and also welcomes allcomers for the 2.5-mile fun run that finishes under the main race gantry.

Windsor Half Marathon Corporate Challenge is a unique charity fundraising and team-building opportunity for businesses and 500 places are reserved for teams of four. The latest company to enter are Orange, so to introduce an alternative hue and secure company bragging rights for the next 12 months visit the WHM Corporate Challenge page on the website here
