Village Bakery Wrexham Half Marathon

Tasty & Fast Half

This early season half marathon could see you kickstart 2025 with a PB...

Taking place so close to the Wales/England border, the Village Bakery Wrexham Half Marathon has loyal supporters in both countries. The fast and flat half marathon has been around for many years and one of its main draws for runners is its perfect race date which makes it ideal training for longer distances later in the spring.

Speaking about the 16 February event, organisers say: "With loyal support from the Village Bakery we continue to bring you this fast, flat and chip-timed half. Our classic race is popular with some of the fastest runners in the region as well as those tackling the distance for the first time."

And 2025 is no exception, with news that Omar Ahmed and Josh Griffiths will be lining up at the start line. The current course record is surely under serious threat given that Josh's PB is 63:08, Omar's 62:14 and the current course record sits at 65:59.

The race rewards all those who take part with tasty traditional Welsh baked goodies courtesy of the Village Bakery Wrexham and there will be new bespoke finishers medals as well.

Final word to organisers: “A lot of runners use this race to assess or reassess their target marathon times for Manchester or London. It is a really quick course. One statistic of interest is that is has a higher proportion of runners breaking 1.20 than any other half marathon in the country.”
