Cheesy Race Turns Ten
The Stilton Stumble celebrates a decade of cheesy running this October...
This year will mark ten years of cheesy fun at Nottinghamshire's Stilton Stumble 10K and organisers are promising a special outing to mark the occasion! As ever, cheese lovers are in for a treat at the popular 10K which returns on Sunday 15 October with a tasty course in the heart of Stilton country and a wedge of Cropwell Bishop Creamery’s finest waiting to be sampled.
This popular, friendly race which raises funds for Cropwell Bishop Friends of the School and the 1st Cropwell Bishop Scout Group also aims to improve young people’s experiences, enabling them to grow and reach their potential and make a positive contribution to society.
Runners genuinely relish this route which passes through the villages of Colston Bassett and Cropwell Bishop which boasts one of a select six creameries that produce the world famous Stilton.
The race starts at 10am from Cropwell Bishop Memorial Hall and winds its way around the villages before finishing at the Memorial Hall. This is an undulating course in a pleasant setting with views across the Vale of Belvoir to enjoy.
Marlon Dunkley of Rushcliffe AC won the race last year in 35:02 and the women's race was won by Camilla Hallett in 44:17, you can check out all the race results via the runABC race listing page.
Speaking about the event, organisers said: "The aim of the Stilton Stumble is to host a friendly, charitable event for running enthusiasts who can test their capabilities in picturesque surroundings. We want to build on our successes since the first event in 2013, creating a tradition for running enthusiasts and our local villages which will continue for many years to come."
A medal and goody bag containing the highly prized cheese, mars bar and water waits for runners at the finish. Hot food and drinks are available in the hall.
