Ponton Plod Returns For NOTFAST RC 40th Anniversary

Charity challenge returns to Lincolnshire...

The Ponton Plod returns to Great Ponton near Grantham in 2026 as NOTFAST Running Club celebrates its 40th anniversary with a special edition of the long running charity challenge event. Taking place from Great Ponton Village Centre, participants can choose from four distances ranging from 10K up to the full 26.4 mile route across the Lincolnshire countryside.

The event combines footpaths, bridleways, farm tracks and quieter country roads, giving walkers and runners the chance to explore rolling rural routes around the Vale of Belvoir and surrounding villages. Organisers have continued to keep the event accessible for a wide range of abilities, with all distances completed within a generous 10 hour cut off.

The longest 26.4 mile route starts at 8:30am, followed by the 17 mile and 12 mile options later in the morning before the 10K event begins at 10am. Registration opens from 7:30am, with ample field parking available close to the village centre start area.

NOTFAST RC has built the Ponton Plod around a welcoming community atmosphere rather than a highly competitive event structure. Homemade refreshments at checkpoints and hearty food at the finish remain a major part of the experience, alongside support from marshals positioned throughout the routes.

One of the main attractions for participants is the relaxed countryside feel across the day. The varied terrain and quieter routes make the challenge suitable for experienced endurance walkers and runners, while shorter distances also allow newer participants to enjoy the event without committing to the full marathon distance.

The Ponton Plod continues to operate as a charity event, with organisers confirming that supported causes for the 2026 edition will be announced closer to race day. Entries are expected to attract strong local interest as NOTFAST RC marks its 40th anniversary year.

Entries are available for the 40th anniversary edition via SiEntries here.
