Westbridge 5 Set To Adapt And Thrive
The route has changed to a hilly one due to redevelopment work at Westbridge Park, Stone
Entries have opened for the Westbridge 5 on Sunday 4 June – race 7 in the NSRRA League Programme and usually held on a mainly flat, multi-terrain course. However, there has been a change of plan...
Always a well organised race from Stone Master Marathoners (Stone MM), the Westbridge 5 is an annual favourite for many runners who enjoy the variety of terrain and the chance to bag a PB. It starts and finishes at Westbridge Park – a popular green space close to the canal in Stone, Staffordshire with areas to walk, cycle, and of course run.
There is a planned multi-million pound revamp of Westbridge Park which includes a range of sport and play facilities for young people and families. This meant an alternative (and temporary?) location had to be found.
Hey Presto! Stone MM unveiled their new 5-ish mile course. Starting at 9.30am, the race goes up and down Oulton Heath and Oulton and past Down’s Banks, where one of their very scenic Spring Treble races is held. If you like hills then this is the event for you.
There are prizes for the top three men and women plus male and female age group winners. Each finisher receives a bespoke memento.
Enter the Westbridge 5 now at AV Timing and run the new route in what could be a rare opportunity to do so. What won't have changed is the battle for NSRRA points which go towards the final standings.
