Thumbs up on the way back to the finish of the MD10K

Fanfare For The MD10K

Who will be crowned King and Queen at this year’s race?

Two days to go to the Market Drayton 10K (Sunday 7 May) and a day to remember at this popular and much loved race. The sold out MD10K is warming up ahead of a busy weekend with celebrations for the Coronation of King Charles III taking place across the country. There’ll be more than a few celebrations on Sunday for those runners who bag a PB...

The Market Drayton 10K (MD10K) is an event which brings the community together. Where the residents line the pavements and sit outside their houses cheering and applauding the runners as they pass. Especially on the steep climb up Phoenix Bank in the final stretches of the race when the legs are tiring and there’s not much left in the tank.

An inclusive event from Market Drayton Running Club which begins with the Fun Run at 9.30am followed by the 10K at 11am. Runners in pens based upon their estimated finishing times will speed away on the Grove School field and out into the town. They’ll continue on a closed road course around Market Drayton, guided on their way by efficient marshals and supported by the locals on a mainly flat course until the latter stages.  Then its undulations and the steep hill before the last gasp dash across the finish line at the Grove School.

Finishers will be presented with a medal, bottle of water and goodies thanks to sponsors. The prize giving follows at 12.30pm.

In addition to this are prizes for coronation themed fancy dress so expect to see red, white and blue outfits alongside club vests out on the course.

There’ll be a buzz in the air where everyone is out to enjoy themselves and achieve their target time.

Fingers crossed for dry weather for all of the weekend's outdoor events!
