Scotland Gets Running
Scottish Running Week is back for the third year, will you be taking part?
Scottish Running Week is back in 2025 with the date confirmed as 2-8 June. The event will once again bring runners, joggers, walkers and pushers together across the country for a week-long celebration of movement, fitness and fun.
Now in its third year, the event is organised by Athletics Trust Scotland (ATS), with scottishathletics joining as the official delivery partner for 2025. The initiative aims to highlight the positive impact of running and athletics while raising funds to support ATS’s Transforming Lives project, which helps break down barriers to participation in sport.
“Scottish Running Week is all about celebrating what running does for us while giving back to help others experience those benefits,” said an ATS spokesperson. “It’s a chance for clubs, jog groups, schools, offices and individuals to get involved in fun challenges and raise money for a great cause.”
A key feature of this year’s event is ‘Get Active and SMILE!’, marking the inclusion of the mile distance in the 2026 Commonwealth Games programme. Participants are encouraged to complete a mile in any way they choose with prizes for speed and creativity. Individuals, clubs and jog groups can log their miles on Open Track, appear on national leaderboards and win awards for fastest times and most innovative completions.
Donations start at £5, with all proceeds going to Athletics Trust Scotland’s efforts to make athletics and running more accessible to underrepresented communities. Organisers added: “We’re inviting everyone to take part, whether it’s hosting a club mile challenge, organising a work run, or simply pledging to move every day of the week.”
