Royal British Legion Industries announces first ever live 10K event

Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) is a national charity supporting the Armed Forces, people with disabilities, and people who are unemployed. They improve lives every day by inspiring those they help and supporting them to find work and lead independent lives.

With its HQ in Aylesford, the charity has strong ties to Kent and is well known for its famous RBLI Tommy logo, appearing as silhouette statues in all sorts of surprising places.

The charity has long supported major running events, such as the London Landmarks Half Marathon, with allocated charity places, special fundraising help, #TeamBrave running vest, and a cheer station but the RBLI has not hosted its own live 10K running event...until now!

Sunday 16 October 2022 is the date to mark in your diary for the first RBLI Tommy 10K (and 5K) in the historic environs of Eridge Park, near Tunbridge Wells in Kent. Eridge Park is the family home of the Marquess of Abergavenny. The Estate is steeped in history, being reputedly the oldest enclosed Deer Park in England, listed in the Domesday Book under the ownership of Odo, the brother of William the Conqueror.

The Estate today provides a home for small businesses occupying former farm and estate buildings. With its striking features and stunning views over the Sussex Downs, it is also a spectacular location for film and photo shoots as well as a being a unique venue for weddings, private parties, corporate events, open-air concerts, country pursuits, sports events, sporting competitions and so much more.

The Eridge 10-mile race is an annual event held in September and Eridge Park has also hosted adventure races like Tough Runner, Hell Down South, and Muddy Dog Challenge so many runners have paved the way for RBLI's inaugural event.

For an entry fee of £25 plus a fundraising commitment you will receive an RBLI fundraising pack and support; Tommy 10K technical T-shirt; personalised number; chip timing; finisher's medal and a fantastic running experience with some of the loudest and most supportive cheer points around.

Most importantly the RBLI will provide you with a reason to keep going because you’ll know that you’re helping to improve the lives of vulnerable veterans and those with disabilities.

Visit the RBLI Tommy 10K website via runABC South race listing to enter.
