Scenic Challenge Awaits At The Lyme Half Marathon
Trail running in the Peak fringe...
Set within the grounds of Lyme Park on 5 July 2026, the Lyme Half Marathon returns with a route that has become well known among trail runners for its combination of challenging terrain and spectacular Cheshire scenery.
Organised by BigFeat Events, the half marathon starts and finishes near Lyme Hall, taking runners out onto the Gritstone Trail before climbing onto Kerridge Ridge. The route passes the well known White Nancy landmark and heads towards Bollington before joining the Macclesfield Canal for a flatter section on the journey back to Lyme Park.
The course offers a true trail running experience, combining rolling hills, woodland tracks, open countryside and far reaching views across Cheshire and the Peak District fringe. While the route is demanding in places, the constantly changing scenery helps make the challenge rewarding from start to finish.
Lyme Park provides a memorable setting for both the start and finish, with runners surrounded by historic parkland and expansive landscapes. The mixture of climbing, technical trail sections and more runnable stretches creates a course that rewards both endurance and smart pacing.
The event has developed a strong reputation among trail runners looking for a well organised summer half marathon. Fully marked trails, on course support and a welcoming atmosphere have helped make it a popular fixture in the Cheshire running calendar.
For runners seeking something beyond a traditional road half marathon, Lyme offers a chance to experience some of the region's finest trails in a race that combines natural beauty with a genuine test of fitness and resilience.
