Preston Harriers prepare for popular 10 miler
Preston Harriers will host their popular annual 10 mile road race a week on Sunday (17 November) with up to 750 runners expected to compete. The deadline for the event, ideal for training given its 10 mile distance, has been set for this coming Monday (11 November) and prospective entrants are encouraged to register before it passes.
The upcoming event will mark 38 years in situ for Preston 10 Mile Road Race and with this has brought its strong reputation and one in which PBs are likely to be set. Indeed, in 2018, such was the high level of quality on show, 31 men dipped under 60 minutes, with 15 female runners posting sub 70 min performances.
This year will see the race host the Northern Athletics 10 Mile Road Championship, Lancashire AA 10 Mile Road Championship and National Fire Service 10 Mile Road Championship. Philippa Walsh from the organisation team at Preston Harriers told runABC North: “As the online entries closing date approaches the Preston Harriers 10 Mile Road Race organising team are working hard on all the detail that will make our event a great success for the 38th Year!
“The flat, fast two lap course it is great for all, runners new to this distance all the way through to runners at the sharp end. Some will be aspiring Northern, Lancashire and Fire Service champions as these competitions are within the race.”
Philippa continued: “With several quality spot prizes given out to runners that stay for the presentation you will all be in with a shout of leaving the event with not just a personal best, souvenir bag, and medal!”
Registration for Preston 10 Mile Road Race is priced at just £20.60 (or £18.60) for affiliated runners. Further information is available here.
