I Spy Pies!
It's all about the pies at this December trail race...
Let's be honest, a pie is never a bad idea. Whether it's apple, pork, steak or something a bit more 'high-end' we can all agree that pies are an essential part of British gastronomy. And one running event that elevates and celebrates the humble pie is Yorkshire's Pieathlon.
Scheduled for 4 December in Huddersfield, the Pieathlon is a 6K mixed terrain trail race with feed stations that are stocked with pies! Oh yes, this is an event that goes above and beyond to keep runners fuelled as they tackle a challenging but scenic route with plenty of mud for all.
Organisers say: "Trudge through the trails of mud to reach each pie station and fill your boots. This rewarding run will make sure you are fuelled with pies throughout, catering for all abilities you are welcome to run, jog or walk this course. But beware of the Bog of Doom!"
Run Able are the organisers in question, the company specialises in friendly trail and road races based in and around West Yorkshire, everything from 3km fun runs to 300-mile ultra-marathons and a whole lot more in between.
There are three pie stations en route, with hot drinks and snacks at the finish line. But the fun isn't confined to pies and snacks, this is also an event for which fancy dress is encouraged, and there are prizes going for the best.
