Man V Horse is back for 2023 and, with new organisers and venue to boot, it promises to be an extra special affair. Speaking about the changes, a spokesperson from the new team said: "I am delighted to announce that Hollingwells Equestrian will be organising and hosting Man V Horse Scotland this year from our yard near Tain. We really hope we get lots of runners and riders to support the event for 2023 which will be in aid of the Scottish Charitable Air Ambulance."

Taking place on 14 May, this year’s event will feature a circular route of 26K for both humans and horses as well as a shorter 16K option. Speaking about the route, organisers commented: "We have decided for this year to offer a shorter course for less fit competitors to run alongside the main event. This shorter course will be approximately 16K and run over the same tracks as the main event so you will still feel quite involved."

Organisers are keen to emphasise that all participants take part in this event at their own risk, accordingly no earphones are to be used and no whips are to be carried. Horses must be shod or booted (at least on their front feet) for the duration of the event and submit to veterinary inspections as a condition of entry.

The winner of the competition, whether runner or rider, will receive the Jacobite Warrior Perpetual Quaich as well as £100 cash prize. Small quaichs are presented as keepsakes to the fastest runner and the fastest rider. There is also a trophy for the fastest Woman V Horse. All competitors receive either medals for the runners or rosettes for the riders.

At the finish there will be an array of sandwiches and cakes that are donated for competitors and helpers alike to tuck into. There is also an onsite cafe which will be available for purchasing food and drinks before, during and after the event.
