Early June Date for Second Blair Castle Trail Weekender
Success of inaugural event leads to 2022 date for Perthshire festival
Entries have just opened for the second edition of one of Scotland’s newest and most scenic running festivals.
The 2022 Blair Castle Trail Weekender will be held over the weekend of 4 & 5 June 2022, offering runners a choice of four different trail races – from the Diana’s Grove 7KM race (Sunday) to the epic 58km-long Full Tilt Ultra (Saturday). The Dearg Up n’Doon 30km (Saturday) and the Banvie Burn 13km (Sunday) will round out the race programme.
As with last year’s inaugural event, all four races will start and finish in the grounds of Perthshire’s iconic Blair Atholl Castle and Estate.
From the castle, depending on their choice of race, runners will loop round past the edges of the Estate’s famous Hercules Garden and back to the start, wind their way through the trails of Glen Tilt or steam up towards the 1009m-high summit of Ben Dearg.
Organisers Outsider Events, who believe there is ‘so much more to a race than just the run itself’, have confirmed that the 2022 edition of the Blair Castle Trail Weekender will also feature a thriving event village and activities free for all participants and their supporters to enjoy. While the full list of activities is yet to be confirmed, festivalgoers should expect to see pre- and post-race yoga classes, a variety of catering experiences, a bar, evening entertainment and low-cost camping to keep the good vibes going all night. All finishers will also receive an eco-friendly medal as part of their entry.
Runners keen to make the most of their weekend will be able to sign up for more than one race over the course of the weekend, but not more than one race on each day due to the event schedule. Discounted entry for those hoping to tackle more than one race may be possible upon application to the organisers.
