Leeds city centre was transformed at the weekend (30 November) as more than 10,000 runners took part in the 2025 Leeds Abbey Dash. The race was organised by Run For All for the first time and proudly hosted the 2025 England Athletics 10K Championships, attracting a strong field of elite athletes eager to test themselves on the famously fast course.

The elite racers provided an impressive display of talent, in the men’s field, James McMurray secured the win in 28:52. He was closely followed by Joshua Grace in 28:56, while Ollie Lockley completed the podium in 29:01. In the women’s race, Melissa Courtney-Bryant took first place with a winning time of 31:37. Samantha Harrison finished second in 32:18 and Louise Small crossed the line third in 33:32.

Once the Championship races were complete, thousands of club runners, charity fundraisers and first timers gathered for the mass participation 10K. Supporters created a lively atmosphere along the out-and-back course, encouraging runners of all abilities as they made their way back to the finish on Wellington Street.

Many of those taking part were raising money for charitable causes, with the event supporting a number of partners including Age UK, Home Start Leeds, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal and Lighthouse Futures Trust. The race was well-received by all participants with one, Chris Eyre commenting on Facebook: "First time I’ve run the Abbey Dash and I have to say I was amazed at how incredibly well organised it was. An absolute credit to every one of you involved."
