Spring Headtorch Half

Back For More In 2026!

Harrogate Headtorch races return in 2026 after standout debut...

The Spring Headtorch Half will return on Tuesday 24 March following the huge success of its inaugural outing in 2025. Runners asked for the event to make a comeback and organisers have delivered, bringing the popular midweek night-time trail race back to the scenic paths around Swinsty and Fewston Reservoirs.

Organisers say: "With darkness guaranteed, a headtorch is essential, offering participants the rare opportunity to race around the reservoirs at night without fear of getting lost!"

The event features three race distances: a half marathon, a 10K and a 5K. The half marathon follows two laps of Swinsty and Fewston, the 10K covers one full lap of both reservoirs and the 5K takes in a single lap of Swinsty. The finish line will once again sit at the edge of the woods before the road crossing to the car park and every finisher will receive a medal.

Organisers continue: "What began as a one-off filler event quickly became a highlight of the 2025 calendar with strong numbers and an enthusiastic social atmosphere. We will be expanding our offering for next year with both a spring and autumn edition planned. A new 5K option has been added to broaden the appeal and the minimum age has been reduced to 16."

With last year’s event selling out, runners are encouraged to secure their place early. The autumn edition, the Punk Panther Autumn Headtorch Half, will take place on Tuesday 6 October 2026.
