Nominations are now open for the 2024 jogscotland Annual Awards...
Who would you nominate for this year's jogscotland awards? Is there someone in your running group or community that you feel would be worthy of taking home a prize at this year's celebrations? Well, it is time to get those names submitted, with nominations closing on 19 August.
2024's winners will be announced at the 4J Studios scottishathletics and jogscotland Annual Awards at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on Saturday 26 October. Organisers say: "It’s a fabulous night, worthy of all of our community who’ve worked so hard over the past year in jogging groups up and down the country."
Every year, jogscotland's awards shine the spotlight on some of the incredible people involved in the initiative - from selfless jog leaders who have gone above and beyond to support their joggers, to members who’ve overcome adversity to get active, or have achieved more than they ever thought they could.
The awards also highlight jogscotland's partnership with SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health), with an award specifically for people or groups who have worked to improve their own, or others’ mental wellbeing through physical activity.
A spokesperson fron jogscotland told us: "We’re looking for nominations in four categories. jogscotland Achiever of the Year celebrates someone who has overcome great odds to get active; who is inspiring others; or who has achieved more than they ever thought possible on their running journey.
"There is also the jogscotland Jog Leader of the Year, jogscotland Group of the Year and the SAMH Mental Wellbeing Award. This SAMH award celebrates a person or group that has used jogging to improve their own or others’ mental wellbeing. This could be, for example, running a project that addresses physical activity and mental wellbeing; an individual overcoming their own mental health challenges to get active with jogscotland; or creating a group that supports wellbeing conversations and is welcoming to those facing mental health issues."
