Jimmy Irvine Bella 10K

Blazing Times At Bella 10K

One of Glasgow’s most loved races returned at the weekend, with some record-breaking times...

The Jimmy Irvine Bella 10K returned to Glasgow on Sunday (9 November), drawing hundreds of runners to Bellahouston Park for one of the city’s most anticipated autumn fixtures.

Organised by Bellahouston Road Runners, the event pays tribute to one of the club’s founding members, Jimmy Irvine and is a regular sell-out on the Glasgow calendar, offering a fast, scenic route through the Southside park.

This year’s edition attracted close to 650 runners, with spectators lining the course to cheer on participants from clubs across Scotland. At the sharp end of the field, there were standout performances and record-breaking times. Jamie Crowe of Central Athletics stormed to victory in 29:41, setting an all-courses record, while Jill Cherry of Victoria Park City of Glasgow AC claimed the women’s title in an impressive 34:53.

There were also age category records to celebrate, with Tony Connelly clocking 31:37 to become the fastest ever Bella runner, Johnny Mair setting a new MV70 record in 47:46, and Margo Turner achieving an FV70 record in 56:29.

Organisers were quick to praise the efforts of everyone involved. “Thank you to everyone who ran, our supporters, those who donated to ‘ReRun It’, our fantastic organising committee and more than 70 volunteers and buffet crew,” they said. “We’re also hugely grateful to all who donated to our charity partner, The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, and to the brilliant Bryan Burnett.”

All results are available via the runabc.co.uk race listing.
