Island Scenery Awaits At Harris Half Marathon
Hebridean half marathon returns...
The Isle of Harris Half Marathon returns on Saturday 4 July 2026, bringing runners back to one of Scotland’s most scenic and distinctive race experiences. Starting near Borve and finishing in Tarbert, the popular Hebridean event continues to attract runners from across Scotland and beyond looking for a memorable summer half marathon.
The point to point course winds through the dramatic landscapes of Harris, passing white sand beaches, coastal roads and open moorland before descending towards the finish beside Tarbert harbour. Although known for its scenery, the route also provides a challenging test with long undulating stretches and a notable climb across the island interior.
The Harris Half has built a strong reputation within the Scottish running calendar thanks to its unique atmosphere and remote island setting. Ferry arrivals, local support and the shared race weekend experience all add to the event’s appeal, with many runners turning the trip into a longer Hebrides stay.
Race day logistics are centred around the sports hub at Sir E Scott School in Tarbert, with buses transporting runners to the start line before the 1pm start. Water stations are positioned throughout the course and prize categories include overall, age group and local awards.
Alongside the half marathon, organisers also stage a 5K and Fun Ruvia Pron, helping create a full community event weekend in the Outer Hebrides. Entries for the 2026 event are now open, with demand expected once again for one of Scotland’s best known destination races.
Entries are available now via PROTAY.
