Breathtaking Island Running Returns To Skye
Scenic island race returns...
The Isle of Skye Half Marathon returns to Portree on Saturday 13 June 2026 with runners set to take on one of Scotland’s most scenic closed road races. The event includes the Half Marathon, 10K, Fun Run and Toddler Dash, creating a full race day on the island.
Starting from Portree, the Half Marathon follows a chip timed 13.1 mile loop that climbs gradually away from the town before opening out into dramatic island countryside. The route includes single track roads, a fast downhill section and stretches near the River Snizort, giving runners a challenging but memorable race experience.
The 10K also returns for 2026, starting from the 11K point of the Half Marathon route before sharing the finish back in Portree. With wild scenery, closed roads and strong local support, the event has become a bucket list race for runners looking for something beyond a standard road race.
Online registration is now open, with the 10K capped at 160 places and strong demand expected across the weekend. Finishers receive a commemorative medal, race goodies, electronic timing and downloadable race photos, while the event will also support local Skye charities.
