Hendy Pacers at Eastleigh 10K 2022

'The home of the PB' delivers again

Hendy Eastleigh 10K enjoys glorious weather conditions

The Hendy Eastleigh 10K promoted by Running Mania is billed as 'the home of the PB', as many of the 2,285 finishers at the 37th running of this popular race would agree. Perfect weather conditions greeted the huge field at Places Leisure, Eastleigh, with the main sponsors Hendy Group stepping up for the sixth year to support the event.

This year's race was dedicated to the memory of former Race Director and Southampton AC member Dave Blackman, who sadly passed away last year and whose legacy lives on in the race he did so much to shape into the top event that it now is, with a £3,500 prize fund and many elite athletes participating.

Just one man managed sub-3-min/km pace throughout and that exceptional standard was achieved by Alex Lawrence (Victoria Park Harriers, 29:28 PB). Not far behind the 23-year-old champion were Daniel Mulryan (Thames Valley Harriers, 30:10 PB), William Cork (Brighton & Hove, 30:26 PB) and Aiden Lennan (Southampton, 30:29) – who missed his PB by a second!

Four women arrived back at Places Leisure inside 35 minutes. Sarah Astin (Belgrave Harriers, 33:18 PB) led Tessa McCormick (Vale Royal, 33:25 PB), Charlotte Alexander (Tonbridge, 34:15) and Kate Estlea (Basingstoke & Mid Hants, 34:36 PB) under that threshold.

There were 82 finishers under 35 minutes; 264 faster than 40 minutes and nearly 500 beat 45 minutes to justify that 'home of the PB' strapline. The 2,285th finisher completed the course on 1:45:17. The team of Hendy Pacers (pictured above) organised by Dave Hawkins of Eastleigh AC, kept the runners on track for every five-minute interval from 45 – 70 minutes.

This excellent race video of this year's race captures the superb atmosphere:

Proceeds from the Hendy Eastleigh 10K and Fun Run help support the Mayor of Eastleigh's Appeal and Wessex Heartbeat and all standards are made equally welcome and can enjoy good crowd support, the big race atmosphere, commemorative medal, and technical t-shirt.
