Keep Calm and BADGER on again!
The popular hilly race is back and open for entries.
After two years away, the BADGERS Atherstone 10K is making a long awaited return on Sunday 28 August and entrants can look forward to a scenic course with more than a few ascents and descents. There will be no shortage of spectators to encourage them on...
Always a well organised event from BADGERS RC, this race is open to everyone with disabled runners especially welcome, all of whom will follow a picturesque route around the market town of Atherstone in North Warwickshire. The route includes access to the private Merevale Estate and the stunning bluebell wood.
Starting at 10am from Long Street, the race continues through the town centre before heading out onto country roads then into the woodland area. It is onwards through here which features Black Pool and Merevale Lake and views of the surrounding countryside. Keep something in the tank for the finish in front of cheery crowds in Market Square.
Did we mention hills? Expect to run into (or run up!) these along the way and dig in but there are downhill sections to compensate and marshals who will coax and cheer.
At the finish, runners will receive a distinctive medal, technical t-shirt (the question for many is what colour?) and a goody bag with thanks to local businesses. Not forgetting free race photos to download.
Recover at any of the pubs, independent cafes, coffee shops and bakeries that form part of this historic town.
First come first served so sign up now to avoid missing out. Enter at the BADGERS Atherstone 10K website.
