Countdown To Greatness

The countdown is now on for this year's AJ Bell Great Scottish Run...

The AJ Bell Great Scottish Run is back for another spectacular running celebration in 2024, this year's date is 5/6 October and the only question is what distance will you take on in the vibrant city of Glasgow - half marathon or 10K?

Whatever you decide, you'll need to be quick making your mind up, organisers told us: "Entries are expected to sell out in advance of this year’s event, which is shaping up to be the biggest ever!"

The Junior and Mini runs are a great kickstart to the weekend with high-energy fun from start to finish. You can expect crazy costumes, high-fives and a roaring support from the Glasgow crowd! There are three distances for our young runners to enjoy: The Toddler Dash is only 70 metres and is suitable for children up to 3 years; the minis (3-8 years) take on a 1 mile dash, while juniors (9-15 years) tackle a 2.5K challenge.

Sunday is the headline though and it will see tens of thousands of runners take their place on the famous start line in George Square before making their way around the super-scenic 10K and half marathon routes, which include views of the River Clyde, Finnieston Crane, Glasgow‘s famous murals, and possibly the odd Highland Cow as runners pass through Pollok Park.

Each year the event brings runners of all ages and abilities to Glasgow, with Great Run offering support from the get-go including training plans and advice, plus timed pacers on the day to give participants the best chance of hitting their personal bests. The event is renowned for its unbeatable atmosphere, there will be music and cheer squads to keep legs pumping all the way to the finish line, on Glasgow Green, and a rocking Après Run zone beyond.

Whether it’s doing something incredible for charity, for the pure joy as you cross the finish line, or wearing your medal with pride at the finish line, come and experience it for yourself. Why not set yourself a challenge and be part of something great?
