Shine Bright, Run Strong
Forth Road Bridge to shine bright for Supernova 5K this weekend...
The Forth Road Bridge will be transformed into a glowing spectacle this Saturday (1 November) as thousands of runners take part in the Supernova 5K, returning for its second edition.
The iconic Scottish landmark will close to traffic from Saturday until 5am on Sunday morning to make way for the unique night-time event, where participants will illuminate the bridge in waves of light.
Following a hugely successful debut in 2024, this year’s event has once again proved popular, with participants securing their places through a ballot entry system. The Supernova 5K offers a rare chance to cross the historic bridge under dazzling light installations, as runners don LED head torches and colourful outfits to create a moving river of light across the Forth.
Organisers say: “This event is about more than just running. It’s about lighting up a landmark, celebrating Scottish heritage and creating a sense of shared joy as thousands of people move together.”
Since its inception, Supernova Runs have captured the imagination of participants of all abilities, from first-time walkers to experienced runners. To date, the event has raised more than £200,000 for charities across the UK, with that total expected to rise significantly following this weekend’s run.
