Get Festive & Frosty In Fife
Take to the Fife trails this winter with a fabulous double-header...
Runners seeking trail running options this winter can look forward to two of Scotland’s most entertaining off-road events as Nuts Trail Races return with their Christmas and Frostbite trail races.
First up is the Christmas option, taking place on 7 December at Balbirnie Park. This four to five-mile race promises mud, water crossings and a few testing hills through the park’s scenic woodland trails. Organisers describe it as 'The Bestest Badass Winter Trail Race in Scotland', and with Badass Brewing Co. as sponsor, the atmosphere is guaranteed to be as lively as the course itself. All finishers will receive a bespoke race memento with runners of all abilities invited to take part from first-timers to the self-proclaimed 'complete nutters!'
The winter fun continues into 2026 with the Frostbite Trail Race on 18 January at Lochore Meadows Country Park in Fife. Covering roughly 4 to 4.5 miles over two laps, the route winds through woodland paths and lakeside trails offering a perfect mix of beauty and challenge. Muddy conditions are likely, so trail shoes are recommended and every finisher will receive a race medal or memento to mark their achievement.
Both events capture the fun-loving spirit that has made Nuts Trail Races a favourite among Scotland’s trail-running community. Organisers say: "Combining friendly competition with a light-hearted approach, our winter races provide the perfect excuse to embrace the elements and enjoy some festive fitness. Come join us!"
