A Trail Pilgrimage Through The Surrey Hills
Trail marathon and Half Marathon return to the Surrey Hills...
This relates to: Farnham Pilgrim Marathon & Half Marathon
The Farnham Pilgrim Marathon and Half Marathon return on Sunday 13 September 2026, inviting runners to experience one of the UK's most celebrated trail running events through the spectacular Surrey Hills.
Starting and finishing at Myrtle's Courtyard on the Hampton Estate near Seale, both races follow sections of the ancient Pilgrims Way and North Downs Way, taking participants on a challenging journey through rolling countryside, woodland and historic landmarks. Since its debut in 2010, the event has earned a reputation as one of the country's finest trail marathons, winning Best New Event in its inaugural year and continuing to attract runners from across the UK.
The Marathon offers a true endurance adventure, passing five churches, an abbey, manor houses, vineyards, rivers, ponds and the iconic St Martha's Church high above Guildford. The Half Marathon captures the same character and scenery over a shorter but equally rewarding route, making it an excellent choice for runners looking to experience the beauty of the Surrey Hills without tackling the full marathon distance.
The varied off road terrain includes woodland paths, countryside tracks and steep climbs that reward runners with sweeping views across one of England's most picturesque landscapes. Well placed marshals, regular water stations and a welcoming event village help create a memorable experience from start to finish.
The event is organised to raise funds for local charities, with all net proceeds supporting good causes in the Farnham area. That charitable focus, combined with the outstanding scenery and friendly atmosphere, has helped make the Farnham Pilgrim a favourite among trail runners year after year.
Whether you're aiming to complete your first trail marathon, tackle a challenging Half Marathon or simply spend a day exploring the Surrey Hills on foot, the Farnham Pilgrim offers a unique blend of history, scenery and adventure that continues to make it one of the highlights of the autumn trail running calendar.
