This relates to: Winchester Half Marathon

The Winchester Half Marathon returns on Sunday 20 September 2026, inviting runners to experience one of the South's most scenic and rewarding Half Marathons through the historic city and surrounding Hampshire countryside.

Starting and finishing outside the Guildhall in the heart of Winchester, the race combines the atmosphere of a city centre start with a picturesque route that heads into the rolling countryside before returning to a memorable finish among some of the city's best-known landmarks.

Participants will pass Winchester Cathedral, tackle the climb around the iconic St Catherine's Hill and run through the attractive village of Hursley before making their way back into the historic centre. While the route is known for its hills, it is equally celebrated for its spectacular scenery and enthusiastic support from marshals and spectators.

Alongside the Half Marathon, the event also features a 1K Kids Fun Run around the Cathedral grounds, giving younger runners the opportunity to be part of the day's celebrations. A virtual Half Marathon option is also available for those unable to attend in person.

Organised by Challenging Events, the race continues to receive excellent feedback from participants for its organisation, friendly atmosphere and beautiful course. Runners can also choose a no medal entry option, supporting a more sustainable approach while reducing the cost of entry.

Whether you're looking to complete your first Half Marathon, tackle a testing course or enjoy running through one of England's most historic cities, the Winchester Half Marathon offers a distinctive race day experience. Combining heritage, countryside and a warm Hampshire welcome, it remains one of the highlights of the autumn running calendar.
