Folkestone Rotary Half Marathon returns on Sunday 27 September 2026, combining a scenic coastal course with fundraising for charities in the local community.

Starting outside The Grand on The Leas, the accurately measured Half Marathon takes runners through the coastal park before heading towards Hythe on an out and back section.

Much of the course follows the relatively flat promenade, giving runners genuine PB potential, although a couple of hills ensure there is still some climbing to negotiate. That combination also makes Folkestone an attractive option for runners preparing for an autumn Marathon or taking on their first Half Marathon.

The coastal setting is a major part of the appeal. Runners can expect extensive sea views as the course follows the Kent coastline, with local community groups adding support around the route.

There is also an important purpose behind the miles. The race is a fundraising event organised by Folkestone Rotary Club, with proceeds and individual fundraising supporting local charities. Runners can also choose a charity entry that includes a £5 donation to the club.

The Half Marathon starts at 10:00am, following the Junior Run at 9:30am. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and finish line goodies, while trophies and cash prizes are available for the leading runners.

With its combination of coastal scenery, a largely flat course and strong community involvement, Folkestone offers plenty for runners looking for an early autumn Half Marathon beside the sea.
