Antonine Trail Race Returns
Central Scotland's spooky trail race returns this October...
Entries have opened for one of Central Scotland’s favourite events - the Antonine Trail Race and with a Halloween weekend date planned (30 October), the only question you need to answer is what costume you will be wearing!
The race is a quirky 13.8 miler over trail/mixed terrain, starting on the ‘bogie line’ near Croy Train Station before taking in Auchinstarry, Kilsyth, Drumbreck, Twechar and back into Croy. It is a very ‘runnable’ trail race, but there is a ‘sting in the tail’ over the last 5K, which sees runners climb Barr and Croy Hills to finish.
Organisers have said that dressing up is optional, but encouraged and have announced that there will be a prize for the best dressed participant, apparently this ‘won’t be grandiose, but will be argued over and is completely subjective!’
The good news with this event is that entry prices are remaining the same as 2019. A spokesperson from the organising committee said: “We are very conscious that there are many calls on your hard-earned cash at this time, therefore we are holding our entry price at the same level as 2019 - £18/£16).”
All runners will receive a goody bag and there will be water station halfway. The spokesperson continued: “You all know what this race is about and we are determined to keep to our core aims, to put on a friendly, challenging race that gives you a great day out and allows the running community to support local charities.
“All profits made are always passed on and this year Who Cares? Scotland will benefit from you efforts and our pals at Kilsyth Community Foodbank will again benefit from a food collection on the day.”
