Endurance Delegates To Join Walsall parkrun

Walsall Arboretum parkrun can expect an influx of delegates this Saturday (18 August) from the Running with Wolves Launch Day where a running ‘ice breaker’ will set them up for the day.

Running with Wolves is a performance centre for endurance athletes providing a range of integrated services such as physiological testing, coaching, strength and conditioning etc. Based in the Walsall Campus at the University of Wolverhampton, this centre will support athletes at all stages on their journey, helping them to surpass their expectations and, ultimately, achieve their goals.

The performance centre will be unveiled this weekend at a free, one-day event open to runners of all backgrounds and abilities. The event includes practical demos, Q & A’s, panel discussion and expert speakers including international marathon runner Susan Partridge who posted a 2:30:46 PB at that distance. Partridge has been successful at cross country and on the track but came into her own on the road, competing for Scotland in the Commonwealth Games and representing GB at the European and World Athletics Championships.

Another international athlete joining the line up of speakers is Rebecca Robinson who is also a Sports & Exercise Medicine Consultant with the NHS. She will be discussing the ‘Female Athlete Triad’ and other related issues. Her personal bests include 2:36:51 for the marathon, 1:12:40 for a half marathon and 33:13 for a 10K.

The event starts at 9am and a practical session courtesy of Walsall Arboretum parkrun. Delgates will join runners, joggers, walkers and volunteers at this Victorian public park, completing three laps on a flat course in a clockwise direction. There are post-run showers available at Walsall Campus.
