Take Three Trails
Trail fun for all at new Coln Valley event...
The Coln Valley Charity Trail Runs have been launched for 2024 by the Friends of Hatherop Primary School with an autumn race date of 14 September. The inclusive event offers 2K, 5K and 10K trail races that take place along the beautiful Coln River Valley between Coln St Aldwyns and Bibury.
The 5K and 10K routes follow a short climb out of the valley from the start with a beautiful course through undulating terrain and predominantly grass pasture. The 10K splits off around 3km in to take a figure of eight route to Bibury and past the infamous Arlington Row cottages. All of the route will be clearly marked and is 99% on trail, a water and jelly baby station will be provided on the 10K route.
The 2K Steeplechase Fun Run offers a cracking cross-country route around undulating grassy fields. Featuring some hay bale hurdles and two crossings of the ‘dip of doom’ before a final sting in the tail up ‘heart break hill’. This promises to be a really fun route for kids of all ages and just to add to the competitiveness, you can include the child's primary school on entry so that they can try to become Primary School Team Champions.
Organisers say: "All proceeds go to the school's fundraising Big Build Project and with distances for all the family, plus a bar, BBQ and cake waiting at the finish, there’s really no excuse not to get involved and support this great cause!
"Whether you’re gunning for a fast trail time, looking for a change from park run, seeking to justify a big pub lunch or just want a beautiful country walk, please enter now as spaces are limited. The leisurely start times even allow a chance to get Saturday kids clubs out the way or better still have a lie in!"
