Burghley Is Back This Spring
The history and beauty of this Lincolnshire event is second to none...
The Burghley 7 will return on 2 March, once again offering a course that explores countless beautiful and unique locations in the Lincolnshire area. This event promises an adventure through the many places that make this area amazing including the beautiful town of Stamford, the Burghley Estate and many stunning landmarks.
Organisers comment: "The concept of this event is to showcase all that this area has to offer. We are taking runners on a journey through local history and giving you a special tour of the Burghley Estate, town and countryside in a really interesting and varied course."
The course links Burghley and Stamford, but for those intriguied, why the 7 mile distance? Organisers say: "Because it's the most fantastic course that we could design and that was the distance that emerged!"
It is apparent that this race has it all. Runners can look forward to passing St Martins High Street with its flawless Georgian history and Town Bridge with views over the meadows. The highlight must be access to the Burghley Estate with its ancient woodlands and exquisitely maintained grounds. Finished in 1587, this is one the finest Elizabethan houses ever constructed.
Each runner will receive a medal at the finish line and, while the main house will be closed during the event, why not treat yourself post-race to lunch in the Orangery Restaurant which will open at 11am.
