Bridgeathon

Is This Race A Bridge Too Far?

Like bridges? You'll love this multi-distance offering from Preston, Fylde & Wyre Running...

If you are a bridge enthusiast, and no we don't mean the card game, then an upcoming September event has to be on your 'to do' list! The Bridgeathon is a multi-distance event with 5K, 10K, Half, Marathon and Ultra races all on offer utilising the flat canal towpath along the Lancaster canal.

Set for 9 September and starting at Guys Canalside Lodge, PrestonĀ (google it, it's a beautiful thatched pub on the canal), runners will head north passing through Bilsborrow, before reaching the market town of Garstang. All runners will return back to Guys, with the half marathon finishing there.

All marathon runners will head south, passing the small villages of Woodplumpton and Swillbrook before reaching Salwick. Here runners will return back to Guys for a welcome finish, the location really is the ideal end point for the races with runners able to treat themselves to a well-earned drink.

Race organisers, Preston, Fylde & Wyre Running say: "Our aim is to offer runners of all abilities the chance to run in beautiful parts of Lancashire.

"Whether it's your first 10K or you're pushing yourself to an ultra challenge, our friendly, experienced team will be there to support you. And if you love bridges then you are in for a treat. The marathon route has 43 of them to pass under or cross over."
