Bothwell RunFest 10K Runners

Run With The 'Crows

Join the scarecrows at this September running festival...

There's nothing scary about this event, and with Bothwell Run Fest being part of the town's Scarecrow Festival you can be sure that it will be as fun-filled as the rest of the weekend's entertainment.

Bothwell Run Fest was established over 25 years ago under a different guise, the Scarecrow Festival teamed up with the Rotary Club around 10 years ago and adopted it as part of the festival. Taking place this year on 4 September, the 10K and 5K races will take place the weekend prior to the main Festival and will be one of the first opportunities for people to get involved in the festivities.

Both the distances will start and finish at Bothwell Primary School. The route takes runners through some tranquil woodland areas, past the golf course, onto Castle Avenue and down to Uddingston and back to Bothwell where you are sure to get some support from locals.

The 10K involves two laps of the course, while those signing up for the 5K distance can perhaps take a more leisurely approach. A spokesperson for the event said: "The 5K is to be a fun event so please get dressed up. We have prizes for the best dressed competitors – scarecrows or any other theme of your choice. This will be a fun day for everyone, young and old."

Bothwell Primary School provides limited car parking, changing, toilets and is where the prize presentations will be made. There will also be free massages available before and after the race from Tony at Extra Mile Therapy.
