Bounding Into 2025
Kick start your 2025 running calendar with this Worcestershire multi-terrain...
Kick 2025 off in exhilarating style at Worcestershire's Bodenham Bound, the seventh edition of which will take place on 5 January. The event provides runners with 5K and 10K multi-terrain races around the grounds of Bodenham Arboretum near Kidderminster.
Situated at the convergence of three valleys, the course offers challenging hills, plenty of mud and a few hard surfaces as you run the boundary of the arboretum. Organisers promise: "You will get muddy! You will get wet! You will have fun! Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun and muddy challenge, all abilities are welcome!"
The terrain can be challenging, especially if the weather is poor. Organisers stress that those taking part should expect: 'deep mud, slippery slopes, tree roots, and icy tarmac surfaces in frosty weather'.
The event is always a charity affair, this year it will be supporting Midlands Air Ambulance and Harkaway Scout Group, so every muddy step participants take will help save lives and support local youth.
All those taking part will receive a finishers' medal and donut. There will also be hot bacon sandwiches, tea, coffee and hot chocolate available.
Over 100 runners took part in the 2024 event with Andy Judd claiming top spot in the 5K race with a time of 30:30 and Angie Ridge taking first in the women's race in 34:01.9. In the 10K it was Jonathan Packer who won in 54:37.5 and first female was Kerstin Morris in 56:35.5.
