Bluebell Trail Run

Blooming Beautiful Run

Run the bloom-filled trails at this charity-focused springtime event...

Spring in Scotland wouldn’t be complete without a burst of bluebells - and what better way to celebrate than with the return of the MYPAS Bluebell Trail Run on 11 May? Taking place in Dalkeith Country Park, this much-loved event invites runners of all ages and abilities to lace up their trainers and take on one of three scenic routes, all in aid of an incredible cause.

The event, which is entirely organised by volunteers, raises vital funds for MYPAS (Midlothian Young People’s Advice Service) - a charity providing crucial health and wellbeing support for young people in East Lothian and Midlothian. Thanks to this mission, high school students in the area can enter for free, making it a truly inclusive event.

Runners can choose from three race options. The 1K Junior Race starts and finishes at the main event area, crossing Montague Bridge before heading out to King’s Gate Avenue and looping back through the wooded trails to the finish line where every young runner will receive a handmade finisher’s medal.

The 5K Trail Run is a mostly flat but scenic route, winding through meadows, forest tracks and the breathtaking Bluebell Grove along the River Esk. But be warned - there’s a short but tough climb near the finish! The 10K Trail Run follows the same first half as the 5K, including an early encounter with the infamous Heartbreak Hill.

Not only does every penny raised go directly to MYPAS but the event’s finisher medals are lovingly handmade by volunteers and local schoolchildren - making each one a unique keepsake. One previous participant summed up the spirit of the event perfectly: “Brilliant event, gorgeous surroundings! Fantastic marshals!!! See you next year.”
