How about an autumn trail race that is based within some of Britain's finest Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty? That's what's on offer at Herefordshire's Blaze the Biblins which will return this year on 20 October.
Organisers say: "The race route is designed by runners, for runners and features climbs, flat sections and technical single track. The route will be signposted and marshalled but runners remain responsible for their own safety at all times. Trail shoes are recommended; please ensure you have trained for the event and weather conditions on the day."
The race starts near the Doward Youth campsite, winding through ancient woodland, past historic Ironworks, along picturesque riverbanks before the infamous Demon Hill climb before a rewarding descent to the finish. The route covers a distance of approximately 6 miles on a mixture of hard trails, single track and unmade ground.
The race may be tough, but all finishers will be rewarded with a memento along with some tea and cake at race HQ. Commenting on Facebook after last year's race Kath Hardwick said: "Thanks for the event today. Well marshalled and so much cake choice and brew spot on. Thank u to all involved."
Kelly Major agreed: "Thank you so much - stewards were very encouraging, and the amazing cakes were really appreciated afterwards, especially after that brutal hill! Super race."
