BTR Liverpool Half Medals

30 Years And A Lorra Fun

This long-established half marathon celebrates the big 3-0 in 2023...

One of the North-West's biggest and longest-established running events will make its return in March 2023 with all the stops being pulled out to marks its 30th outing. The BTR Liverpool Skyline Half Marathon & 10 Mile will take place on 26 March with thousands of runners expected to toe the line in this anniversary year.

To mark the occasion, race organiser BTR Liverpool have unveiled new branding for the event, with some fancy-looking medals at the heart of the new look. A spokesperson said: "We've had some brilliant feedback since we revealed the new branding for next year's race - so now it's time for the medal! Liverpool is a city steeped in heritage, culture and passion. The Liver Bird is the iconic symbol for this incredible place and it seemed right that it made it onto the bling!"

The course has been varied over the years and was even hosted by the London Marathon Company back in 2005 and 2006. In recent years however, the event has settled down to use an established course, which boasts a grandstand start and finish on the city’s iconic and world-famous waterfront.

Set against a backdrop of the Three Graces, which includes the Royal Liver Building, the route then meanders up to the most scenic parkland in the city at Sefton Park before heading back along the waterfront promenade overlooking the River Mersey. Runners can't help but sing Ferry 'Cross The Mersey as they eat up the miles heading back to the city centre for a grand finish.

With an interesting but flat course - apart from one short hill at mile one, what's not to like? Organisers say: "The route takes in many of the famous landmarks that most of you will be familiar with... and some you won't."

There is also a 10 mile race held in conjunction with the half marathon which sets off at the same time and finishes in the same location. The 10 mile option cuts out the Sefton Park section with both half marathon and 10 mile runners merging on Aigburth Drive at the seven and four mile point respectively as the course heads toward the waterfront.
