Balfron 10K

Balfron Is Back

This popular Stirlingshire 10K is back in April next year...

Entries have opened for the popular Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10K which has a wonderful spring date on the race calendar - in 2024 it will take place on 28 April.

First run in 2007 (as the Co-operative Balfron 10K), this event has proved extremely popular with runners of all abilities. The officially measured course, chip-timing, winners prizes and professional organisation appeal to the most serious runners, whilst the super friendly atmosphere, traffic-free route and race goodies make it a great race for the more casual runner and even first-time 10K runner.

Balfron is an attractive village in Stirlingshire, with views of the Campsies and Ben Lomond. The race, which starts and finishes at Balfron Campus, takes runners out through Balfron on an out and back route through the scenic countryside.

Speaking about their event, organisers commented: "Join our event which is recognised for its commitment to reducing its environmental impact and friendly community atmosphere. We have received excellent reviews from runners and press alike, and have been voted the top 10K in Scotland, by readers of Runners World Magazine. We hope to see some new faces as well as familiar ones on our spectacular course."

In addition to the Balfron 10K there are local school races in the area on the day. All entrants are offered a commemorative medal, race t-shirt and refreshments on the course and at the finish line. This is a popular race with runners of all abilities.

The race is organised by volunteers and raises funds for local causes. In 2023 funds were given to Balfron High School, Balfron Primary School and Nursery, Balfron Community Council (defibrillators) and Balfron Pathways Group.

Speaking about their environmental credential, organisers said: "The Balfron 10K has always been environmentally aware. Every year we clean up the race route, before and after the race, and diligently recycle all that we can. This year, we are going further, and aim to reduce single use plastic and wastage where we can."
