Jog Leader

Become a Leader in 2024

jogscotland's Leader In Running Fitness courses are back in 2024, is this the year you step up to help others?

Could you inspire other people to get active for the first time, or to experience the joy of reaching goals they never knew were possible? Why not become a jogscotland jog leader? You don’t have to be a fast runner – some of the best jog leaders are people who remember very well how it felt to be a beginner jogger.

The most important thing is to have a passion for the benefits of getting active, and a commitment to help people overcome barriers that might stop them. In return, you’ll feel the satisfaction of watching your joggers progress, make new friends, and improve their physical and mental health as they enjoy your sessions.

jogscotland has recently announced its spring calendar of coach and jog leader education opportunities, including the Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) qualification, which will teach you all you need to know to set up your own jog group, or become a leader at an existing group.

The initiative's Leadership in Running Fitness course will teach you all you need to know to become a jog leader, so you can set up your own group, or lead with an existing group. The course is delivered through a combination of online and in-person learning, and they have just added new dates to the calendar through to spring, so why not make 2024 the year you take the next step on your jogging journey?

Each course comprises a series of online modules, followed by a practical session, on the following dates:

  • 14 January – Scotstoun
  • 10 February – Meadowbank
  • 11 February – Aberdeen
  • 2 March – Grangemouth Stadium
  • 14 April – Kilmarnock
  • 27 April  Pitreavie
