A new race will arrive in Wiltshire next January when the inaugural Swindon 10K brings fully closed road running to Lydiard Park and West Swindon.

Future Sports Events will stage the first edition on Sunday 17 January 2027, with the race starting at 9:00am. The organiser has set a limit of 1,500 places for the new event, giving Swindon runners something fresh to target at the beginning of the year.

Lydiard Park provides a distinctive start and finish. The historic country estate sits on the western edge of Swindon, allowing the race to combine parkland surroundings with a 10K route through West Swindon on roads closed to traffic.

The course has been designed with speed in mind, making the race an interesting early season target for runners chasing a personal best. At the same time, the single 10K distance and traffic free roads should make it accessible to runners preparing for their first organised 10K.

Chip timing, water stations, medical support and professional event photography will be provided, while the event village at Lydiard Park will include refreshments, toilets, music and other race day facilities. Every finisher will receive a dedicated Swindon 10K medal, and race numbers will be posted to participants before the event.

January might still seem some distance away in early September, but the arrival of an entirely new closed road race is worth putting on the calendar early. Come 17 January, Swindon's runners will have a new 10K start line waiting for them.
