Kick start your Christmas fun at the Wilmslow Festive 10K which will take place on 26 November this year. Starting in the town centre, this one-lap race is perfect for fast times and takes runners on a scenic journey through country roads. It’s a much-loved classic that sells out every year and caters to those chasing a year-end PB as well as those who enjoy the festive fancy dress theme.
Organisers, Run North West say: "Join us for our festive curtain raiser and biggest event of the year! With very strong entries already, we are heading for an early sell out. Whether you are looking to finish your year with a fast time or simply want to get into the festive mood (fancy dress optional!) this race has it all.
"And with a renowned PB course profile, the Festive 10K attracts big names, club runners and recreational runners looking to PB before the year is out."
Each year the medal is something of a talking point and 2023 is no exception - this year's hotly anticipated festive finishers' medal is a sparkly Christmas robin. Organisers comment: "It is perfect to take home and hang on your Christmas tree."
In 2022 Storm Arwen meant runners were competing in icy temperature but that didn't deter winner Matthew Clowes from Cardiff Athletics who took almost a minute off the course record running the distance in a staggering 28:57. Sophie Wood from Sale Harriers won the women’s race in a fantastic time of 33:34.
Looking ahead to this year's staging Adam William commented on Facebook: "Can't wait for this one! All aboard the 60 min Christmas train!"
