Ultra X In Scotland

Take on the Highlands in a spectacular trail adventure this May...

Ultra X Scotland will return to the Scottish Highlands this May (3/4), once again providing runners with the chance to race through one of the UK’s most spectacular landscapes. With the Great Glen and the legendary Loch Ness at its heart, this event provides an unforgettable endurance challenge across four different distances.

Runners can choose from 110K over two days (Saturday and Sunday), a 60K race (Saturday), a 50K race (Sunday), or a 25K event (Sunday). The 110K race is split over two stages, with participants camping at the southern tip of Loch Ness in Fort Augustus on Saturday night.

The 60K race follows the same Saturday route as the 110K before finishing in Fort Augustus, while the 50K and 25K distances take runners along the South Loch Ness Trail on Sunday, offering a mix of fast trails and challenging climbs.

The Scottish Highlands provide a dramatic backdrop for this ultimate test of endurance, with the race following the Great Glen, a geological fault line created more than 400 million years ago. The route takes in dense forests, open moorland, and the vast, shimmering waters of Loch Ness, delivering stunning views at every turn.

All finishers will receive a race medal, with different medal ribbons awarded based on finishing times. Participants who prefer to forgo a medal can opt out at race registration.

For those seeking the ultimate endurance test, Ultra X offers the Great British Slam, an exclusive award for runners who complete Ultra X Scotland, Wales and England in the same calendar year. To qualify, runners must complete ultra distances (50K or more) in all three events - so shorter races, like the Ultra X Scotland 25K, don’t count.
